Shigeo Kobayashi

[Professor, Tokyo City University]

Graduated from the Department of Architecture in the School of Engineering at the Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech) in 1991. Completed a masterʼs degree at the Department of Urban Planning, Environmental Engineering, and Disaster Engineering in the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Science and Engineering at Tokyo Tech in 1993. Teaching assistant at the school from 1993. Received a doctorate in engineering from the institute in 1998. Lecturer in the Department of Architecture in the Faculty of Engineering at the Musashi Institute of Technology from 2000. Associate professor from 2003. Visiting researcher at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from 2004 to 2005. Professor in the Department of Architecture in the Faculty of Engineering at the Tokyo City University since 2011. Received the Encouragement Award of the Illuminating Engineering Institute of Japan Lighting Design Awards in 2008. Award of Merit of the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) International Illumination Design Awards in 2008. Prize of the Architectural Institute of Japan (Research Thesis Division) in 2010.
