Session 3: The Publicness of Windows

What roles and significance do windows have in society? This cross-disciplinary session brings together architects and sociologists, who will consider the "publicness" of architecture through the themes of "Window Sightology", which examines the importance of the commons in urban space, "Window Lightology", which discusses how light from windows make streets feel safer and more personal, and "Window Sociology", which analyzes the inseparable relationship between windows and society from the viewpoint of sociology.
